How many panels are needed to heat my Pool?
Refer to the following chart it can help determine haw many panel are required for your pool.
Please call us for pricing and possible seasonal specials from time to time. For example - a 15x30 pool has a surface area of 450 sq.ft. 
The standard solar panel sizing in
this latitude calls for a solar panel coverage amounting to 50% of pool surface area or 225 sq.ft in this example. The 15x30 pool would call for 5-4x10ft. panels or 200 sq.ft.
There are a few other factors in determining optimal panel requirements such as extended pool depth, wind shelter (or lack thereof), and panel location with reference to the noon-day sun. We install the panels leaving room for future expansion if necessary.

What does it take to get them installed?
There is very little disturbance to an existing pool motor filter installation. Referring to the diagram here 
illustrates the solar panel take off just after the filter and before returning to the pool. The Auto Controller automatically determines whether to send the water to the solar panels or divert it directly back to the pool. The controller reads the solar panel temperature, the pool water temperature and the controller set point continually during pool operation. A check valve placed in the return water lead prevents diverted water from backing up to the panels during "no sun" spells.
The solar panels use regular 1-1/2 PVC plastic pipe to plumb the system. All pipe and fittings are standard PVC, obtainable at any hardware plumbing store. We recommend you contact us when you have determined what your needs are as we can supply these parts at a discount for our customers.

When is the best time to get them installed?
The best time to get your panels installed is in early Spring. As the season gets busier it is difficult to schedule installs to suit the customer timeframe. We install during all three seasons and we cover all of South Central Ontario.

How much does it cost compared to alternative heating methods?

What do they look like?
The panels are made of high quality grade EPDM rubber that is UV, chemical and weather resistant. The modular design means that the panels are pre-assembled and ready for installation on the roof. As all installations are different the only task left is to decide on the quantity of PVC pipe and fittings needed to complete the installation. We
can help the DIY homeowner with that as we can supply all needed parts to complete the installation.
For those homeowners who would rather not do the installation we offer this service through our trained installers. Installation is commonly completed in a few hours and the pool already heating by the time we leave. You can expect 2 to 3 degrees Fahrenheit pool temperature increase day by day for a
properly sized solar installation. During the early Spring and the late Fall it might be necessary to use a pool blanket to prevent heat loss, however during the summer months this may not be necessary. Out systems should easily raise and maintain pool temperatures in the low to mid 80's with occasional pool highs of high 80's to low 90's.
The use of an Auto Controller (recommended) allows the owner to set the desired pool temperature, and turn the panels off when no heat is available. With higher temperatures the pool chemistry may have to be closely monitored to prevent imbalance.
The headers (manifolds) that supply the water to the panels are made of high density polymer (LURAN) that is also UV, chemical and weather resistant. 
The manifolds are joined together using rubber couplers made of
the same material as the solar panels.
The couplers allow the manifolds to flex and prevent stress breakage due to seasonal and environmental affects. 
The system is easy to install even for a homeowner and upgrades to the system are easy to do by extending the panels on either side using
additional fittings. Since the manifold couplers flex, yet securely fasten adjoining manifolds, there is no danger of frost separation.

How do they work?
The pool pump motor is used to drive the water from the pool up to the solar panels on the roof. The solar panels heat the pool water and return it to the pool. The system normally uses an Auto Controller (see the animation below) so that the solar panels only heat water when they are hot enough to do so.

What about the warranty?
We warranty the panels and manifolds for 25 years. The warranty is pro-rated with 100% coverage in the first 5 years, 50% in years 6 through 15, then 25% for the remainder.
Other items such as controllers are covered under their own warranty terms. (( We will arrange for any warranty service for those items as part of our customer service. Our warranty is supplied
